Rob McLeod, better known as Frisbee Rob, unofficially broke 2 world records this weekend during the Silver Skate Festival in Edmonton, Alberta.

The first dog to catch a disc thrown over 400 feet, Davy Whippet now holds the World Record with a catch of 134 yards (402 feet). The previous record of 130 yards was set in 1994. “We are allowed a maximum of 15 attempts per day,” said McLeod, who throws for Davy. “This is important because there are many factors to take into account – how Davy is feeling, my throw, the wind and where the sun is. This record has been unbroken for 18 years for a reason – it’s not easy to break!”

Rob McLeod, a resident of Calgary, Alberta, Canada set a new WFDF and Guinness World Record in Thorhild, Alberta on October 14, 2012 when he threw a frisbee 134 yards (402 feet) to his canine teammate Davy Whippet, breaking the record for Distance to Canine Catch which was set in 1994, more than 18 years ago.

Robert McLeod, an ultimate frisbee player and coach from Calgary will be travelling to Fort Collins, Colorado on July 18 to compete in the 2011 WFDF World Flying Disc Championships.

McLeod, who has been throwing frisbees for 11 years, is one of two Canadians travelling to Colorado to compete. This will be his first time competing in a Flying Disc event, and this being the World Championships, an event held every four years.
